Safety: OHSAS 18001

ISO 45001, the replacement standard for the current BS OHSAS 18001:2007, is in committee draft stage as of June 7, 2015. The standard is scheduled for release in October 2016.

There is sure to be some confusion about the number; now that it will be an international standards versus a British Standards document, the replacement to BS OHSAS 18001:2007 needs an ISO number but 18001 (along with the rest of the 18xxx family) was already used for another discipline.

What’s new?

It is too early in the process to forecast the details, but context of the organization will be added as it has been for ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 14001:2015 in an effort to better align all three documents for users who wish to integrate their management systems. A copy of the Draft can be obtained from your nearest ISO memberFor the United States, that would be ANSI.  Note that ISO documents are copyright protected.
